The area was gripped by panic following the shooting.
Injured Yadwinder was immediately taken to the Samrala Civil Hospital, where he received first-aid before being referred to a hospital in Chandigarh.
Dr Hamesh stated that the patient, Yadwinder, was struck by a bullet and another bullet brushed past him. The patient also had several other minor injuries, he said.
Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh said the case appears to be a result of an old rivalry. The injured had previously worked at a toll plaza in Dhillon, near Amritsar, where he had a rivalry with Nachattar Singh. Police believed this attack may be the result of that rivalry. The police are investigating the matter.
DSP added that the attackers arrived in a Swift Desire around 3.30 pm on Tuesday. The accused first attacked the man with swords. Then, as they were leaving, they shot him.
