Ludhiana, May 21
The Ludhiana Central Jail has released as many as 900 jail inmates during the lockdown period due to the Covid-19 threat, claims the statement issued by the Jail Department on Thursday.
As per the instructions of the Punjab Government, Punjab Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Punjab ADGP (Prisons) Parveen Kumar Sinha, all precautionary measures have been adopted in the jails to prevent them from the pandemic of Covid-19.
In compliance with the instructions issued by the High Powered Committee in the two meetings, around 900 inmates have been released from Central Jail, Ludhiana. Due to this, social distancing can be being maintained in the jail in a right manner, stated a release of Central jail.
The masks and sanitiser being prepared in jail factory have also been provided to the jail inmates.
Today an organisation named FICCI, FLO Ludhiana organised an event named ‘Abhimaan’ in which masks, sanitizers, liquid soap and peddle sanitiser stands were provided in large quantity to Rajiv Arora, Superintendent, Central Jail, Ludhiana for jail inmates and jail staff of Special Jail, Women Jail and Central Jail which. It will a highly help jail inmates and jail staff in prevention from Covid-19, said jail officials.
