LUDHIANA: Chandigarh boys registered an emphatic 13-0 victory over the CBSE Welfare Sports Association in hockey on the third day of the 64th National Schools Championship in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Chandigarh boys registered an emphatic 13-0 victory over the CBSE Welfare Sports Association in hockey on the third day of the 64th National Schools Championship in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

In the matches played at Prithipal Singh Memorial Astroturf Stadium of the Punjab Agricultural University, Chandigarh boys proved too good for their opponents, wrapping up the issue hands down while in another match, Jammu and Kashmir outperformed CESE XI 6-1.

However, in the girl’s section, the CBSE Welfare Sports Association came out victorious against Maharashtra whom they drubbed 8-0.

In the matches played at other grounds of the PAU, Andhra Pradesh girls scripted an easy (7-0) win over IPSE and Delhi beat Bihar 5-0, whereas in the boy’s category, IPSE XI defeated Navodaya Vidyalya Schools 4-0 and Rajasthan blanked Telangana 8-0.

At Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Chandigarh girls outplayed Gujrat 5-2; Tamil Nadu overwhelmed Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools 10-0; Himachal Pradesh routed Puducherry 9-1; Karnataka drew with Rajasthan 0-0.

In the boys’ section at the SCD Government College ground, Tamil Nadu quelled a strong resistance from Andhra Pradesh before winning it 2-1 and Himachal Pradesh outwitted Madhya Pradesh 4-0; Maharashtra beat Chhattisgarh 7-1 and Uttar Pradesh defeated Puducherry 7-0.

The preliminary round matches in sqay martial arts and mini golf also witnessed tough competition today.
