City colleges emerge champions in Panjab University basketball tourney

Ludhiana, December 4

Teams of Government Girls College and Satish Chander Dhawan (SCD) Government College for Boys, comprising trainees of the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) stamped their class and emerged champions in the Panjab University Inter-College Basketball Tournament held on university campus grounds, Chandigarh, from December 1 to 4.

In the boys’ section, SCD Government College, led by international star Gurbaj Singh Sandhu, proved too good for its rivals and wrapped up all their matches to annex the title. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Chandigarh, secured second position while Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharam College, Chandigarh, finished at third place.

The team of Government Girls College, Ludhiana, led by Avleen Kaur, too faced a little challenge from its opponents before romping home victorious to lift the winners’ trophy.

Government College for Girls, Chandigarh, and Panjab University campus, Chandigarh, finished as first and second runners up, respectively.—OC
