Ludhiana, December 11
A music composer-cum-anchor has alleged that six persons attacked him at Dholewal Chowk here in the wee hours of Sunday morning and took away valuables lying in his car. The police, however, suspect the veracity of his complaint.
The complainant, Ashish Kumar (29), a resident of Preet Vihar, Wadi Haibowal, told the police that he was a music composer-cum-stage anchor. “On December 9, he was returning home from Patiala after attending a show there. It was around 2 am when a car bearing a Haryana number started following him near Mandi Gobindgarh. When I slowed down, I saw three persons sitting in the Swift car. They were staring at me. Suspecting them to be robbers, I accelerated. When I reached Dholewal Chowk, I was overtaken by an SUV in which three persons were sitting. Soon, the persons sitting in the SUV and the Swift cornered me,” he alleged.
Ashish said when he asked the persons travelling in the SUV and the car why they blocked his way, they started arguing with him. They first thrashed him and then took away his bag containing an Apple MacBook, an iPhone and other valuables. The victim alleged the assailants also threatened him with dire consequences if he informed the police.
The investigating officer, Head Constable Surinder Singh, said the victim called up the police control room and a police team immediately reached the spot.
Asked if the police were able to trace the owners of the vehicles through the registration numbers noted down by the complainant, Surinder Singh replied they had sought the details of the registration numbers from the transport office.
