To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a national contingent of 150 cyclists, including Megha Jain (44) from Ludhiana, completed a historic 4,049-km ‘Ride for Unity’ from Kashmir to Kanyakumari over 17 days and 16 nights. The expedition, organised in association with Fit India and managed by Dare2Gear, aimed to spread the message of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

The organisers expressed gratitude to DDG Mayank Shrivastav, director Dr Nadeem, the Fit India Team, and Dr Bhairavi Naik Joshi, director and CEO, BYCS India Foundation, for their vision and guidance. A special acknowledgement was extended to Amit Sharma for motivating the riders in Jaipur and coordinating with the local authorities to ensure their safety.

Across every halt, Fit India’s Regional coordinators ensured a warm welcome and smooth arrangements for the cyclists. The concluding event in Kanyakumari was also attended by Dr G Kishore, principal and regional head, SAI LNCPE, along with dignitaries Kumari B Radhadevi, Vinu, Subhash S, and Vimal Anandh, whose presence added prestige to the finale.

Megha Jain said support poured in from several dedicated teams across states, including Aman and team (Jammu), Pushkar jand team (Ludhiana), Nisha and team, Madhu and team (Rajasthan & Gujarat), Vithal (Dharmapuri), Pacheyappan and team (Dindigul), Bala Gopal, Dr Kishore and their team (Kanyakumari).Their collective efforts strengthened the unity and spirit of the national mission.

“The backbone of the expedition—the Dare2Gear crew—worked day and night to manage logistics, bike readiness, meals, safety and overall coordination, ensuring the ride’s smooth and injury-free completion,” Jain said.

The Ride for Unity stands as a landmark tribute to Sardar Patel’s vision and an inspiring symbol of national integration.

Megha Jain expressed immense pride in being part of this extraordinary journey that celebrated the spirit of a united India, she added.

Prior to this historic solo endeavour, I had already tackled the challenging Tandem Bike Series, completing 200, 300, 400, and 600-km rides. Furthermore, I completed the demanding 1,000-km Delhi-Kathmandu ride alongside her dedicated riding partner, Dr Pawan Dhingra.
