Ludhiana, January 15
The Municipal Corporation has started sending notices to those flat owners who have not paid property tax so far. Additional Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal said they would send notices to all defaulters.
MC Superintendent Vivek Verma said they found that there were 9,000 flats in the city. “They came to know that many flat owners have never paid property tax. Even those who are exempted from property tax are required to file zero return,” he said.
“We have started sending notices to the owners of big flats while the notices to other category flat owners would also be issued at the earliest. We have collected Rs 56 crore as property tax during the current financial year. We appeal to the property owners to pay their tax timely to avoid action,” he said.
Geo tagging of MC properties
The Municipal Corporation is giving geo tags to its all properties in the city. It would also help the MC to find the actual number of properties of the civic body under encroachment, sources said. Additional Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal said they were geo-tagging all MC properties and data of properties would be uploaded on the web portal of the Local Government.
