Civic body team seals Aura gym building

LUDHIANA: The MC today sealed the Aura gym for allegedly not paying compounding fee and CLU charges.

The MC today sealed the Aura gym for allegedly not paying compounding fee and CLU charges.

Earlier, RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal had complained to the Local Government that non-recovery of more than Rs 1 crore as change of land use charges from the gym was causing loss to the exchequer. The MC had also served a notice on the gym last year through which its owner was asked to pay about Rs 1.20 crore. Recovery of about Rs 1 crore was pending.

Zone D ATP Vijay Kumar said the gym building had been sealed for not paying the compounding fee and CLU charges.

11 shops also face action

The Municipal Corporation on Thursday sealed 11 shops at Nirmal Market on Gill Road for allegedly not paying property tax arrears. Superintendent Vivek Verma said they had earlier served notices for wrong assessment of property tax worth Rs 9.85 lakh. The tenant/occupier of three shops had shown stay orders, he added. The civic body had earlier served notices on the tax payment defaulters.
