Civil Surgeon flags off food testing van in industrial city

LUDHIANA: A food testing van was flagged off by the Civil Surgeon, Dr Parvinder Pal Singh Sidhu, in the city on Thursday.

Ludhiana, October 11

A food testing van was flagged off by the Civil Surgeon, Dr Parvinder Pal Singh Sidhu, in the city on Thursday. The van will test food samplse for a fee of Rs 50 each and deliver the report on the spot.

The van today did a round of the city to create awareness among the residents regarding food testing. Pamphlets were also distributed among the public.

Residents can also make their complaints regarding adulteration of food products on a toll-free number 1800112100.

The food safety van will be detecting fats and testing adulterants, such as urea, sucrose, starch, adulteration in milk, detection of synthetic colours. Besides, many other tests for checking adulteration in food items will be carried out on the van. — TNS
