Clear choked sewer lines or face action, Ludhiana Mayor tells contractor

Taking note of the choked sewer lines on Sua road in Giaspura area, Mayor Inderjit Kaur inspected the site on Thursday. She directed the contractor concerned to either clear the sewer lines or face penalties.

During the inspections, area residents complained the contractor hired for constructing the road had dumped construction and demolition waste in the sewer lines, which had led to severe blockages and sewer waste overflowing onto the road.

The Mayor said no laxity would be tolerated and strict action would also be taken against the officials concerned if anomalies were found in the future.

She directed the officials concerned to ensure no manhole covers were broken or missing as it may lead to accidents.
