Writes to Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh
The Association of United College Teachers (AUCT) has demanded removal of Principals of some private colleges, who according to the association are allegedly not eligible for their posts.
Vide a communique addressed to the Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, the association claimed that a committee be constituted to inquire into the matter reportedly established by the DPI (College) regarding ineligibility of certain Principals in August 2022.
An inquiry was held in response to a demand raised by association president Tarun Ghaie.
Perusal of concluding remarks of the fact finding report submitted by inquiry committee suggested that clarification was required on the counting of experience at University Grants Commission (UGC)-run institutions from the All India Council for Technical Education (ACITE)-run institutes in connection with four Principals. The matter was sub-judice in Punjab and Haryana Court at the material time of inquiry in connection with one case being inquired. In case of two Principals, eligibility of whom was challenged, the committee observed that approval of the university was not required for the college concerned.
