To awake the Municipal Corporation, which has failed to tackle the stray menace, a unique protest, full of comedy, was held at Haibowal today. Kumar Gaurav of “Yuva – the Strength” (an NGO) acting as ‘Sacha Yadav’, inspired from character Bachha Yadav of The Kapil Sharma Show, searched for a suitable bull for the wedding of his buffalo on the streets of Haibowal to register his protest.

While performing the role as Sacha Yadav, Kumar highlighted the stray menace that has caused many accidents on the city roads.

“Many bulls can be seen roaming on the streets of Haibowal. Our objective to hold such a protest is to awake the authorities as well as the government. Bulls are attacking commuters and pedestrians but the civic body has failed to get them shifted from the roads,” he added.

A number of schoolchildren had gathered to see the comedy of Sacha Yadav who later visited the market and residential area to sensitise people about the stray menace. Shopkeepers and local residents have urged the civic body to take immediate measures to get the stray cattle shifted to a proper place to prevent mishaps.

No relief even after paying cow cess

The MC collects about Rs 4 crore on account of cow cess every year but there has been no solution to the stray menace. The government has failed to keep a check on those who abandon cows on the roads after using them for dairy purposes. A senior citizen, Satish Kumar, said: “Though cow cess is charged on various services by the civic body, there is no control on the stray cattle. Herds of stray cattle can be seen feeding on garbage at open dumps. The situation is almost similar in most wards within the MC jurisdiction and in outer areas,” he added.
