LUDHIANA: An NGO has come forward to help the physically challenged prisoners or those who cannot move around due to age and debility at the Central Jail.

Ludhiana, May 2

An NGO has come forward to help the physically challenged prisoners or those who cannot move around due to age and debility at the Central Jail.

Two automated wheelchairs were donated to aid those prisoners by Help, an NGO, along with Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust.

NGO president Gaganpreet Singh said when they visited the jail, they saw old and disabled prisoners finding it difficult to move around due to lack of wheelchairs. There were numerous prisoners, who were not fit and needed wheelchairs, he said. The NGO decided to donate wheelchairs to help them. Jail authorities welcomed their effort.

“Last week, we visited the jail regarding some work and came to know regarding this situation. All members decided to extend their support. We have decided to donate two wheelchairs to the prisoners.”

He said the NGO would continue to make efforts to help those in need, including prisoners.
