Sampla claimed Rahul Gandhi failed to even mention MGNREGA throughout the rally.

“If there were any genuine empathy for farmers and labourers, he would have discussed their concerns and compared the shortcomings of the current system with MGNREGA. However, Rahul Gandhi remained silent on these matters,” Sampla said.

The senior BJP leader highlighted that while MGNREGA provided 100 days of employment, the Centre’s new scheme, Viksit Bharat — Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), ensured 125 days of work, along with payments within a week. He alleged the provisions were lacking in the Congress’ MGNREGA framework.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s plea for Congress leaders to work together, Sampla said it exposed the “infighting” within the party.

“It is evident that his party has become directionless,” Sampla said.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Barnala, he said the Congress leader failed to clarify the message he intended to deliver to the labourers and farmers of the state.

Sampla was accompanied by BJP’s district president Rajnish Dhiman, general secretary Narendra Singh Malli, vice-president Mahesh Sharma and press secretary Satish Kumar.
