After getting a notice for displaying advertisements of MP Ravneet Singh Bittu on unipoles in the city, president of District Congress (Urban) Ashwani Sharma today claimed to have submitted a reply to the MC in this regard.

Bittu’s advertisements were allegedly displayed on the unipoles without getting permission from the returning officer concerned. The notice was served on the Congress for this alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

Sharma said they had taken permission from the Municipal Corporation for displaying the advertisements on the unipoles. “We have submitted our reply with all documents to the MC,” he said.

Returning officer-cum-Deputy Director Urban and Local Bodies Jiwanjot Kaur said: “No permission was taken from us for displaying these advertisements. The flying squad has videotaped these unipoles. The team concerned would file a report in this regard.”

“We have sought from the MC that bills be issued against these advertisements. The expenditure on these advertisements will be accounted for in the expenses of the party concerned,” she added.

Earlier, a few Opposition leaders had raised questions over displaying advertisements of Bittu on the unipoles.
