An election rally was organised in Ward No 4 of Khamano by the Mahila Congress in favour of the party candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib, Dr Amar Singh.

This rally was organised under Khamano circle president Parminder Kaur in which state president Mamta Datta and district president Neelam Rani, along with other office-bearers, were present.

Mamta, in her address, stated that the Congress was the party in which women were given full respect and it worked for the welfare of all sections of society, including farmers, women and poor.

She said leaders of the BJP had no respect for women and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had insulted the women by not giving rights to his own wife.

Kuldip Kaur, wife of Congress candidate Amar Singh, and Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Bassi Pathana MLA Gurpreet GP appealed to all to vote for the Congress for the uplift of the area and to ignore the ‘jumlabandi’ of the Prime Minister.

They said if the party came to power, poor people would be given financial assistance under the NYAY scheme and the women would be empowered with reservation.

Dr Deepak Jyoti, general secretary, Mahila Congress, Punjab, who was also an aspirant for the party ticket, addressed the gathering and appealed to all, especially women, to work hard for the victory of Congress candidate Amar Singh.

Zila Parishad member Parveen Rana, Khamano nagar panchayat president Kulwinder Kaur and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
