Contractor, engineer booked

KHANNA: A day after two workers died while laying a sewer line, the police have registered a case under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 34 of the IPC against contractor Prem and engineer Gurwinder Singh and others.

Khanna, November 21

A day after two workers died while laying a sewer line, the police have registered a case under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 34 of the IPC against contractor Prem and engineer Gurwinder Singh and others. The case was registered on a statement of the worker, Raman Kumar, who was rescued in time.

Two workers had been killed when a heap of earth caved in during the laying of a sewer line at Jagat Colony, on Lalheri Road yesterday.

The complainant, Raman Kumar, in his statement to the police, said both suspects were responsible for this incident as they had demanded safety kits from them a number of times, but they failed to provide kits to the workers, resulting in on-the-spot death of two workers Dilkhush and Chandan Kumar.

Khanna SHO Venod Kumar said the bodies were handed over to their kin after a post-mortem today evening. He said a case against the contractor and the engineer had been registered. The SHO stated that others, if found responsible, would also be booked in the case. He said the accused would be arrested soon. — OC
