Cops, families under one roof

LUDHIANA: To increase the interaction between the families of police officials and to inculcate the habit of physical fitness among the children of cops, sports day was organised under the banner of Police Week at the Police Lines Stadium on Tuesday.

LUDHIANA: To increase the interaction between the families of police officials and to inculcate the habit of physical fitness among the children of cops, sports day was organised under the banner of Police Week at the Police Lines Stadium on Tuesday. This initiative brought the police officials, their families and children on a common platform, in which children took part in various sports activities and cultural programme as well. Senior officials also interacted with the families and children of their junior officers and staff.  ACP Madhavi Sharma said the event was organised under the leadership of Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill and was supervised by ADCP Headquarters Deepak Parik, ACP Pragya Jain, ACP Ramneesh Chaudhary ACP Ankur Gupta and other team members including her. The ACP said children of cops took active part in games such as 100-metre race, sack race, tug-of-war, three-legged race, hurdle race and carom. She said children would be awarded with appreciation prizes in cultural programme on January 19 by the Police Commissioner. “The police officials mostly remain busy in their job, due to which they are not able to spare time for such activities for their children. This sports day brought cops and their families under one roof. The police will continue this initiative in future as well, the ACP said.

Seminar on economic offences and immigration fraud 

City police also organised an awareness seminar on economic offences and immigration frauds in which bank managers, businessman, shopkeepers, private employees and city residents took part. Police stations falling under the Police Divisions including North, Central, South, West, Gill, organised awareness drives at their own levels separately. Senior police officers and Station House Officers interacted with the public and told them to stay alert about the rising economic and immigration frauds. The police told them to check the last record of immigration firm and all documentation before handing over money. — Nikhil Bhardwaj
