Country liquor seized

Ludhiana: The Dehlon police have seized 20 bottles of country liquor from a deserted dairy farm on Mukandpur Road in Gurma village. On the basis of an information, SI Baljit Singh, who had set up a check post near the village, conducted a raid on the dairy farm and received 20 bottles of country liquor (brands Santra and Rasbhari). A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigation was on. TNS

Two arrested for drug trade

Ludhiana: The Basti Jodhewal police have arrested one Joginder Singh from Kailash Nagar T-point for involvement in drug trade. The culprit was apprehended at a check point by Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh and 10-gram heroin was recovered from him. The police have also impounded an Active scooter that the accused person was driving. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. In a similar incident, a police party led by Inspector Devinder Singh intercepted a person from Sherpur Chowk at a check point and recovered 15-gram heroin from him. The accused was identified as Imran Alam. He was booked under Sections 21/6/85 of the NDPS Act. TNS
