The court of Additional Sessions Judge Dr Ajit Atri has reserved orders on the anticipatory bail application moved by former Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) chairman Raman Balasubramanium in a corruption case registered by the Vigilance Bureau (VB) against him after hearing arguments.

In his bail plea, former LIT chairman claimed that he was innocent. Neither he demanded bribe from anyone nor accepted it. The case was registered by the VB against him on July 28, 2022, due to political vendetta, the bail plea stated.

“Certain land mafia and property dealers are conniving with political persons as the accused did not accede to their illegal demands during his tenure of the LIT Chairman. Plot No. 9-B, SBS Nagar, and 106-D, Rishi Nagar, have been allotted as per the court orders after obtaining due sanctions/orders from the highest authorities of the Local Bodies Department. No other allotment has been made by the accused regarding other plots mentioned in the FIR,” the bail plea states.

The VB alleged that former chairman had a role in alleged illegalities and his custodial interrogation was necessary.

The court also reserved orders on regular bail plea of LIT Executive Officer Kuljit Kaur and Parveen Kumar in another case registered against them.
