Ludhiana, December 22
Three persons succumbed to coronavirus, while 38 tested positive for it in the district today.
The total positive cases in the district have now reached 24,456 and the death toll has gone up to 952.
The total active cases in the district are now 522, while 118 persons were sent for home quarantine today.
Seven patients were on ventilator support on Tuesday, out of whom three patients belonged to Ludhiana district, while four to other districts.
Those who lost their lives today included two males, aged 60 and 69. They belonged to Model Town and Jagraon, respectively. Their co-morbidities included hypertension, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
The third fatality was a 72-year-old woman, a resident of Kartar Nagar Model Town who had co-morbidities of hypertension and diabetes.
Out of the total 38 patients who tested positive today, 12 were contacts of positive persons, 11 were referred from the OPDs 11 from flu corner, one was SARI patient, while the tracing of three was in progress.
Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said whenever the District Administration and the Health Department, Ludhiana, find out about any positive or suspected Covid-19 person, their samples were immediately sent for testing.
The reports of 950 samples of the suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results were expected shortly.
The Health Department has appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab Government and if they try to stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves but also contribute to keeping everyone around them safe.
