As Covid cases and the positivity rate, a key indicator of virus surge, were rapidly rising, doubling rate has touched a four-month low this week with a dip of almost 94 per cent from a record high count of March in the district, official figures have revealed.

The cases were doubling in 4,576 days in Ludhiana during the week between June 10 and 17, which was lowest after 3,098 days recorded between February 12 and 18, the data has confirmed.

The analysis of comparative trends of Covid spread done by the district administration, a copy of which is available with The Tribune, showed that the present doubling rate was almost 94 per cent less than the record high of 76,089 days registered here between March 25 and 31.

The six-month study indicated that the doubling rate was as low as 281 days between January 28 and February 3, which rose to 877 days between February 4 and 10, 2,828 days between February 11 and 17, 6,331 days between February 18 and 24, 10,607 days between February 25 and March 3, 17,549 days between and 24, and touching a record high of 76,089 days between March 25 and 31.

The doubling rate dipped to 45,658 days between April 1 and 7, further rose to 57,079 days between April 8 and 14, again declined to 21,748 days between April 15 and 21, went up to 28,551 days between April 22 and 28, decreasing to 21,757 days between April 29 and May 5, rising to 26,883 days between May 6 and 12, dipping to 22,855 days between May 13 and 19, going up to 38,098 days between May 20 and 26, sliding to 35,172 days between May 27 and June 2, 21,776 days between June 3 and 9, and further touching a low of 4,576 days between June 10 and 17. Similarly, the count of average daily positive cases has also touched a four-month high in district.

The six-month analysis showed that Ludhiana’s average daily patient load had touched as high as 294 cases between January 28 and February 3, which rapidly dipped to 96 patients between February 4 and 10, further sliding to 26 cases between February 11 and 17, 13 patients between February 18 and 24, seven cases between February 25 and March 3, four patients each between March 4 and 10, and March 11 and 17, two cases between March 18 and 24, one patient between March 25 and 31, two cases each between April 1 and 7, and April 8 and 14, three patients between April 15 and 21, four cases each between April 22 and 28, and April 29 and May 5, three patients each between May 6 and 12, and May 13 and 19, two cases each between May 20 and 26, and May 27 and June 2, three patients between June 3 and 9, and rising to four-month high of an average 16 cases daily between June 10 and 17, highest after an average of 13 cases registered between February 18 and 24.
