Ludhiana, June 25
One more person died of Covid-19 in Ludhiana district today. The 36-year-old patient was admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh. Dr Rajesh Bhaskar, state nodal officer of Covid, confirmed his death. The Covid toll in the district has now gone to 19.
Meanwhile, 25 persons tested positive in the local hospitals, of which 22 belong to Ludhiana district. They include DCP (Law and Order) Ashwani Kapoor. On Monday, a Home Guards jawan from his office had tested positive.
Eight officials from the department will be quarantined while a list of the rest is being prepared.
Three persons from the Vigilance Department also tested positive, including a platoon commander of Home Guards.
3 infected, HDFC Bank branch sealed
The branch of HDFC Bank at Sunder Nagar was sealed after three employees tested positive. The branch has been sealed till further orders.
A Class IV employee of the Civil Surgeon office also tested positive. He is a contact of the lab technician who tested positive on Monday. The samples of 15 employees of the office were collected.
Two persons with travel history to Delhi and Sonepat also tested positive. They are from Gurpal Nagar on Daba Road and from Mundian Kalan.
Nine more tested positive are from Jodhan, Isher Nagar, Basant Avenue, Dehlon and Preet Vihar.
A 21-year-old man from New Ashok Nagar, Salem Tabri; 39-year-old woman from Model Town and 40-year-old man from New Model Town, Khanna, also contracted infection.
Two cases are from Hathur village and VPO Phagala on Humbran Road.
A senior citizen was reported infected from the containment zone of Sehnsi Mohalla. A pregnant woman tested positive at Habib Ganj.
