Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma has launched the ‘Self-Safety Slogan’ drive, initiated by Sewa Sankalp Society’s vice-president Harpreet Sandhu, a city-based lawyer, to spread awareness against Covid.

The drive was supported by eminent doctors of the city Dr Gurpreet Wander, head, Hero Heart Centre, Dr Bishav Mohan (cardiologist), Dr Vivek Saggar, dentist, Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh and industrialists Navneet Jairath, Sonu Nilibar and MP Singh Sehgal to make the city Covid-free.

After releasing slogan posters, the DC along with ADC Amarjit Singh Bains asserted that the slogans would be spread among every section of society in the city through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp to make residents aware of self-safety, which is the best cure during the pandemic. A video clip depicting safety slogans prepared by Harpreet Sandhu was also launched by the Deputy Commissioner during the event at the DC office.

Sandhu said the district administration under the ‘Mission Fateh’, the campaign launched by the Chief Minister, had so far been able to curb its spread to a large extent by successful imposition of lockdown. Now, after the lockdown restrictions were eased, it was important for residents to be more vigilant and responsible by following a few steps to maintain hygiene and comply with the orders issued by the administration for their own safety.
