The initiative was led by Sameer Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police–1 (ADCP-1), along with ACP North, ACP Central and zonal SHOs. The primary objective of the operation was to enhance community security, maintain public order and prevent any potential unlawful activities in busy and sensitive areas of the city.

Verma said a large number of police officials conducted intensive checking drives at the JMD Mall on railway station road as a part of preventive measures to tackle any emergency. Inspections were also carried out at malls, markets, parking lots and other public spaces. During the operation, suspicious individuals were identified and questioned to ensure a proactive approach towards crime-prevention and public-reassurance.

“We conducted a mock drill in the JMD Mall. Cops cordoned off the mall and also combed the premises. Entry and exist points were sealed. Policemen acted like they were in a real emergency. People present in the mall were also taken to safety. Although the city has received no intelligence regarding a terror attack, such exercises prepare the police force and it helps check readiness in case of emergencies,” added ADCP Verma, adding that the drill was also part of a routine security checking after blasts in Delhi.
