Declamation competition held

Ludhiana: To celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, inter-class declamation and Gurbani Kanth competitions was organised by Guru Nanak Sewa Mission at Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women.



Ludhiana: To celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, inter-class declamation and Gurbani Kanth competitions was organised by Guru Nanak Sewa Mission at Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women. Cash prizes worth Rs 1,100, Rs 700 and Rs 500 were given to first, second and third position holders, respectively, in the declamation contest. Cash prizes of Rs 500, Rs 250 and Rs 250 were given to first, second and third prize winners, respectively, in the Gurbani Kanth competition. Participants were given cash prize of Rs 100 each. 

Lecture on stock market

Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology organised a lecture on stock market investment for students of BCom. The resource person guided students regarding online share trading and how to create wealth in the Indian stock market. He highlighted the significance of economy, industry and company analysis in stock market investments and discussed online trading mechanism of stocks with the help of charts, patterns and graphs.

SCD College shines in Science fest

SCD Government College participated in a science fiesta organised at Government College of Science Education and Research, Jagraon. A total of 11 teams from colleges across the region participated in a quiz and PowerPoint presentation contest. The college team stood first in the quiz contest and were awarded cash prize of Rs 3,000 and certificates. In the PowerPoint presentation contest, the college secured third position with cash rewards of Rs 1,500 and certificates. Principal Dharam Singh Sandhu congratulated the students for this achievement.

Alumni mark 40 years of graduation  

The alumni of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College celebrated their 40th year of graduation. More than 60 members participated in the event. Principal Sehijpal Singh welcomed the 1979 batch alumni and the members of Eco Sikh Foundation. To observe the 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, 550 saplings were planted on the college campus. The alumni shared their professional experiences with students, guided them about career planning and answered their queries related to job opportunities.

Bajaj College wins prizes at youth fest 

Bajaj College participated in the 61st zonal youth and heritage festival held at Baba Kundan Singh College, Muhar village. The college participated in 16 items and bagged prizes in six. Saksham Sachdev of BCom-II won three prizes, second position in instrumental music (non-percussion), third position in photography and second position in debate. Savneet Singh of BBA-III claimed second position in ghazal singing while Sukhpreet Kaur of BCom-III stood second in story writing. In the handwriting competition, Hardilpreet Kaur of BSc (fashion designing)-II bagged third position. Principal Shikha Dhall congratulated the students and faculty for their hardwork.

GHG khalsa Runner-up at youth fest

Students of GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, have proved their mettle in the Panjab University zonal youth and heritage festival held at LLRM College Education , Dhudike, Moga. The college won 48 prizes and the runner-up trophy. Students won 20 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 16 third prizes in various competitions. Bhangra, jhoomar, instrumental music, installation, collage, elocution, vaar, phulkari, histrionics, bhand, play, ennu making, tokri and guddian patole making events bagged first position in the festival. Rachhpal Singh, contingent in-charge, said this year was the seventh consecutive year that the college bhangra team has won first prize in the youth festival. Principal Sarbjit Kaur Ranu congratulated the faculty and students. TNS
