Khanna, July 12

Newly appointed Khanna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhruv Dahiya (IPS) assumed charge here on Thursday.

Senior police officials of Khanna district were present. He was given a guard of honour on his arrival at the SSP Office by a team of the Khanna police. Dahiya, a 2012 batch officer, was in the SPU before his appointment as the Khanna SSP.

Dahiya had already served as the ADCP-Traffic, Ludhiana, and was in the news for challaning a judicial officer for wrong parking in 2014.

He has taken over the charge of the Khanna SSP after the transfer of former SSP Navjot Singh Mahal PPS to Jalandhar as the SSP (Rural Jalandhar).

Talking to The Tribune, Dahiya said checking drug menace would be his priority and drug peddlers would not be spared.

He said rallies and meetings in the district would continue to create awareness among the youth against the menace of drugs.

The SSP also expressed zero-tolerance towards corruption and said the traffic woes would be solved without any delay.
