Domestic help hangs self at her employer’s house

LUDHIANA: A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Garden Enclave where she worked as domestic help. The deceased has been identified as Shivani Devi. Her father, Manoj Kumar, a migrant from Uttar Pradesh, works as gardener and lives in NRI Colony, Canal Road, here.

A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Garden Enclave where she worked as domestic help. The deceased has been identified as Shivani Devi. Her father, Manoj Kumar, a migrant from Uttar Pradesh, works as gardener and lives in NRI Colony, Canal Road, here.

Assistant Sub-inspector Lakhwinder Singh from the Raghunath Enclave police station said around 7.30 am today, the girl went into the room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan. When another servant of the house heard her shrieks, the family went there but found her dead.

The deceased’s family said she had a love affair with some boy based in UP. Recently, his father came to know about their relationship and rebuked his daughter. “It is suspected that the girl felt embarrassed due to which she took the extreme step. Suspecting no foul play, the police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC,” said the ASI.

BCom student kills self

A 21-year-old BCom student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Sherpur this afternoon. She has been identified as Surabhi. His father works as supervisor at a factory. Surabhi took the extreme step due to her prolonged illness. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.  Suspecting no foul play, the police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174, CrPC.

Mystery shrouds man’s death 

A 40-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances at his home in Chawni Mohalla last evening. The deceased has been identified as Shelly Mehra.

The investigating officer, ASI Janak Raj, said Shelly was alone at home when he fell unconscious. His brother rushed him to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought in dead.

The ASI said Shelly had been doing drugs in the past. His family helped him get treatment at a drug de-addiction centre after which he stopped doing drugs.

Had a Love affair

The deceased’s family said she had a love affair with some boy based in UP.
