Drive organised to save water

Ludhiana: Students of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar bypass, held an event to save water.



Ludhiana: Students of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar bypass, held an event to save water. PowerPoint presentations were prepared by students depicting shortage of water, depletion of underground water, polluted water unfit for drinking and do’s and don’ts for saving water.

Anti-drug rally held

The NSS volunteers of SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, organised an anti-drug rally to create awareness among masses against its growing nuisance. Volunteers passed through the Chaura Bazar and Kesar Ganj Mandi. Principal Jasveer Singh Chauhan appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers and laid stress on leading a healthy life by saying no to drugs.

Health Habit Week observed

Tiny tots of BCM Kindergarten, Basant Vihar, were taught to keep their surroundings clean. Emphasis were laid to prepare them young. Kids were advised not to litter and throw garbage only in the designated bins.

Seminar on road safety

A road safety seminar was organised at Sacred Heart Convent Seniro Secondary School, Khanna. Resource person Balwinder Singh, SP, Head Quarter enlightened students on road safety. Students were directed to use bicycles to reach school instead of scooters until they have a valid driving licence, wear helmets and refrain from using mobile phones while driving.

Environment Week celebrated

Students of Atam Devki Niketan, Kidwai Nagar, celebrated “Environment Week” with great enthusiasm. Students were asked to develop environment-friendly habits and were brified about environmental degradation. A tree plantation drive was also held by Kindergarten students.

Green Land Convent School

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, commenced “Van Mahotsava Week”. Messages were put up all around the school on importance of trees and how they act as lifeline. The objective was to generate awareness among students. A plantation drive and poster making competition was held wherein students of all classes participated and were briefed on dwindling eco-system.

Saint Bir Santosh Public School

Van Mahotsava was held at Saint Bir Santosh Public School. Nursery to Class X students actively participated in the event. Students recited poems and gave speeches on importance of trees. School principal Santosh Bakshi motivated students to plant trees.

Declamation contest held

To connect children with nature a declamation contest “Go Greener, Go Safer” was organised at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar. Creating awareness and planting saplings to improve deteriorating air quality was the main motive of the event.

One-act play organised

To highlight burning issues, including social networking, morality of politicians, girl child abuse and secularism an inter-house “One act play” was organised at Tagore Public School. Participants of four houses enacted thought provoking dialogues which left audience awestruck. — TNS
