ECI specifies 11 alternative documents for ID proof

Ludhiana: People will be able to cast their vote with 11 alternative identity proofs besides Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) during the Parliamentary election in Punjab on May 19.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said those who do not have elector’s photo identity card (EPIC), also called voter ID card, can exercise their franchise using alternative documents, including Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence or service ID cards (with photograph) issued by the Central or state governments or public sector undertakings.

The EC has also allowed the bank or post office passbooks with photographs, PAN card, MGNREGA job card, health insurance smart card and pension documents (total 11 documents) to be used as identity proof. TNS
