Ludhiana, October 20

After the grading of government high and senior secondary schools, now the grading of primary and middle schools will also be conducted by the State Education Department. The grading list is expected to be released by the department in the first week of November.

For evaluation, schools have been asked to send their self-assessment report and upload the data on e-Punjab school portal. The points under which the school heads have to send the data includes school results, infrastructure, co-curricular activities, public contribution and students’ attendance.

The evaluation of the schools will comprise a total of 100 marks out of which 50 will be for results, 20 for infrastructure, 10 for attendance, 15 for co-curricular activities and 5 for parent participation in school affairs.

It is expected that the department will be releasing the final list of the all categories of the schools with grades at the end of November.

Suman, a teacher from Government Primary School from Ludhiana district said it was a good initiative by the department as it would help in inculcating the spirit of competition among the schools. “Not only students, even the teachers will strive hard to achieve the desirable grades. I think the grading system will help in improving the quality of education,” said she.

Most of the school had already updated the data on the e-portal while there were few who got it done on the last date.

“October 18 was the last date for submitting data on the portal. It took a lot of time to submit the details, because of huge online rush or the site being slow. But finally, in the afternoon, we were able to upload the data,” said a schoolhead of the primary school from Ludhiana. The department has sought information from approximately 13,500 primary schools and 2,500 middle schools.
