Ensure people-friendly environment at corporation offices, officials told

To ensure a people-friendly environment at Municipal Corporation (MC) offices, MC chief Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal has given directions to officials to take required steps.

He said a help desk would also be set up at the Zone A office for visitors.

He inspected the MC’s Zone A office on Friday and slammed the officials concerned for not ensuring cleanliness on the premises. He gave strict directions to the Zonal Commissioner concerned to ensure cleanliness on the office premises.

The Commissioner also directed the staff concerned to display a list of charges for various services such as new water and sewerage connection and obtaining various certificates. He strictly warned the officials that no ‘private agents’ would be tolerated at the MC offices. If any agent was found roaming at any MC office, strict action would be taken in this regard, he said.

Meanwhile, he gave instructions to the officials concerned to pay focus to ensure cleanliness in the entire city so that Ludhiana could improve its ranking in the Swachhata Survekshan 2021.

Sabharwal conducted a meeting with MC supervisors of Zone A and B to ensure waste segregation in the city. An official said the supervisors had been instructed to create awareness among garbage pickers and people that only segregated waste would be collected from houses. The supervisors have been asked to spread awareness that as to how compost can be prepared from kitchen waste. They were also told that dry and wet waste be dumped separately at secondary dumps in the city.
