Ludhiana, October 22
The railway authorities would soon start escalator service on the Civil Lines side at the Ludhiana railway station.
According to authorities, the escalator would start functioning in last week of October and would prove quite beneficial for passengers, especially senior citizens.
The project had been hanging fire for around one year due to lack of coordination between different departments. The passengers arriving from the Civil Lines had to face a lot of issues due to non-availability of ramps for senior citizens and physically challenged persons.
“We will start the escalator service for rail passengers on trial basis soon. The senior authorities of Ferozepur Division will inaugurate the service by the end of this month,” said Ludhiana railway station Director Abhinav Singla.
“Escalator will be very useful for elderly people and divyangs,” said Sukhpal Singh, a passenger.
