Farmers: Will oppose entry of private firms in Punjab

A protest by farmers under the banner of the BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) continued for the second day today in front of a mall where the farmers had forced closure of a store on Sunday.

BKU general secretary Sudagar Singh Ghudani said the farmers had also staged protests at a store in Dugri and another at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and had got these stores closed.

He said as a protest against the Central government’s farm laws, the farmers would continue to target the private company’s stores across the state.

“Farmers will continue to fight against attempts being made by the Central government to bring corporate houses and MNCs in agriculture and give farm land in Punjab to corporate houses,” the BKU leader said.

Ghudani and other speakers at the dharna said the ongoing agitation would be further intensified and the march of the farmers to Delhi on November 26 and 27 would pave the way for the next phase of agitation.
