Ludhiana, November 30

With just one month left for registration of pets with the Municipal Corporation, a large number of people are yet apply due to lack of awareness among many owners about the process. The last date for pet registration is December 31.

The MC had started the registration process in June this year. But, the civic body didn’t get a good response as only a few residents have come forward to get their pets registered. The pet owners can visit the MC’s official website - mcludhiana.gov.in or pets.mcludhiana.gov.in or the zonal office for registration by paying Rs400 annual fee. After registration, a brass token for registered pet can be collected from the MC’s Zone A office.

If an owner fails to get his/her pet registered within given time, penalty will be imposed on the owners of all unregistered pet dogs and cats. As per information, any pet without a licence and token issued by the Municipal Corporation will be taken away by the civic body after December 31, while pet owner will have to pay a fine of Rs100 per day till he/she gets the licence.

As per rules, the registration is to be renewed every year. MC’s Senior Veterinary Officer Dr Harbans Singh Dhalla said a large number of people have not registered their pet dogs or cats. They are appealed to get their pets registered at the earliest. “Registered pet owners are also requested to take brass token from room number 37 at Zone A building near Mata Rani Chowk after showing receipt or picture of registration. Brass tokens are compulsory to put in the neck collar of registered dog. In case of theft or loss of pet, one can identify the dog owner from token number and pet can be reunited with owner,” he added.
