Financiers attack paint shop owner

A 43-year-old paint shop owner was brutally attacked by some financiers near Issa Nagari Pulli in the late evening on Monday. The victim alleged that even after two days, the police Division No. 3 was yet to take action on his complaint.

Complainant Rahul Dhall, a resident of Haibowal, stated that his brother Dinesh Dhal had taken Rs 2 lakh on interest from some financiers. Till now, his brother had returned several lakhs to these financiers, but they were still demanding Rs 8 lakh from him, he added.

“On Monday, suspects called me at their office near Issa Nagari Pulli and asked me to return Rs 8 lakh. When I told them that this much amount is not due towards me as I had already returned money taken from them, they started beating me,” said Dinesh.

“They thrashed me with baseball bats and also threatened to kill my family if I did not pay the amount. Somehow I managed to escape from their office and rushed to a hospital,” he added.

The victim also alleged that the suspects had tried to pour acid on him, but fortunately, he escaped. He suspected that the suspects had say in political circle due to which the police may not register FIR against them, the victim added.“If justice is not delivered, we will meet Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal so that FIR can be registered against the suspects,” the victim said.

Meanwhile, investigation officer, ASI Sanjiv Kumar, did not respond to repeated phones calls.
