Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have booked five persons and seized 156 bottles of illicit liquor along with 10,000 litres of lahan (undistilled liquor). The police said the accused have been identified as Bharu and his son Vanjar Singh, both residents of Bholewal Jadid village. They were booked under Sections 61, 1, 14 of the Excise Act and 80 bottles of illicit liquor, utensils and distillation equipment were recovered from them. However, the accused managed to flee. Raids were on to nab the miscreants. In another raid at the same village, the police registered a case against two persons namely Kulwant Singh and Sukha under the Excise Act and made a recovery of 76 bottles of illicit liquor, utensils and distillation equipment. The accused managed to gave the police a slip. The police said one Kuljit Singh, a resident of Razapur village, was booked under Sections 61, 1, 14 of the Excise Act. The police recovered 10,000 litres of lahan from the spot which was destroyed. TNS
