Food Safety Dept to continue to check on adulteration

MANDI AHMEDGARH: Kahan Singh Pannu, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Punjab, has expressed hope that residents would be able to relish hygienically made pure sweets and milk products in the ongoing festival season this year.

Kahan Singh Pannu, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Punjab, has expressed hope that residents would be able to relish hygienically made pure sweets and milk products in the ongoing festival season this year.

He was attending a function at Narangwal village near here. Pannu appreciated that a majority of manufacturers and dealers in milk and milk products had responded positively to the Tandarusat Punjab Mission launched by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh-led government recently.

“A majority of entrepreneurs, including milk and milk product dealers and sweetmeat makers, assured to stick to quality and purity in case of eatables,” said Pannu maintaining that persistent surveillance by officials of various departments had yielded desired results till now. Pannu said the rank and file in the Food Safety Department had been advised to continue to check on adulteration.

Pannu said crisis had almost become a universal phenomenon. “Not that only food industry is in crisis, almost all fields, including agriculture, industry, education and service providing, are facing crisis to some extent. However, we are committed to meet the challenges and provide people the best services and commodities which are required for human existence,” said Pannu.
