Four lose battle to Covid in Ludhiana; 92 test +ve

Coronavirus claimed four more lives, while 105 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours in the district. Out of those who lost the fight against the virus, two were from the city, while one victim each belonged to Jalandhar and Jammu. Among the positive cases, 92 were from Ludhiana district and 13 were from other districts/states.

According to the Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, among the fatalities from the district one was an 80-year-old man from Guru Nanak Nagar in Khanna town and a 52-year-old man from Bhamian Kalan village in the district. With this, the total number of Covid deaths in Ludhiana has gone up to 904 and 324 had fallen prey to the virus from other districts/states here.

The 92 fresh positive cases from the district included 13 contacts of infected persons, 28 from OPDs, 39 from ILI (influenza like illness), seven being traced, three health workers and one each from SARI (severe acute respiratory infection) and ANC (ante-natal care).

Dr Bagga said till now, 4,55,951 samples had been taken of the suspected cases which also included 3,260 samples sent for testing today. Reports had been received in respect of 4,53,111 cases, out of which 22,734 had tested positive and 20,962 (92.2 per cent) had recovered.

As per the new guidelines of the Government of India, the total number of active cases in Ludhiana was 865, with 657 among them kept in home isolation, 18 in government health institutions and 100 in private hospitals. Similarly, 3,222 patients from other districts/states had tested positive here, from among whom 380 had died and 86 were under treatment in private hospitals.
