Four UP gangsters nabbed

KHANNA: Four interstate gangsters, including their kingpin belonging to UP, were arrested with four pistols and cartridges by the police following a tip-off last night.

Four interstate gangsters, including their kingpin belonging to UP, were arrested with four pistols and cartridges by the police following a tip-off last night. One of their accomplices escaped.

Those arrested have been identified as kingpin Sachin Tomar, Bharat Bhusan and Rakesh Kumar, all residents of Ghaziabad (UP), and Sundar Singh, a resident of Delhi. Ajay, a resident of Bulandshahr (UP), escaped. Sachin was injured when he tried to escape.

Khanna SSP Gursharandeep Singh Grewal said a police party, led by SP (I) Jasvir Singh and Sadar SHO Baljinder Singh, was present near Sua Puli Bhattian during patrolling last night. An informer passed on information that some persons travelling in a Hyundai I-10 car were carrying illegal weapons. The police raided a defunct brick-kiln near Bahomajra village and arrested the gangsters with illegal weapons, including two pistols of .9mm bore with four cartridges, and two pistols of .32 bore with four cartridges. Ajay of Bulandshahr escaped. Gang kingpin Sachin also tried to escape but the police chased him. He fell over while fleeing and got injured.

A case under Sections 399/402 of the IPC and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Sadar police station.

The SSP said Sachin had served in Tihar Jail in some case. In the jail, he came in contact with notorious gangster of UP Chinnu, who is involved in about 27 heinous crimes. Sachin came out on bail and he started working for Chinnu. He had come to Punjab to commit some crime on the directions of Chinnu.

The police said they were questioning the gangsters to know about their targets. They will be presented before the court and their police remand sought.
