KHANNA: A fire broke out at a furniture and electrical showroom (Hukum Chand Sood and Sons) in Khanna today.

Khanna, April 22

A fire broke out at a furniture and electrical showroom (Hukum Chand Sood and Sons) in Khanna today. Initial reports suggest that goods worth lakhs were gutted.

According to the information, fire engulfed the store within seconds and occupants were taken out safely.

Yashpal Gomi, Fire Officer, Khanna, said they had called around 14 firefighting vehicles from Khanna, Mandi Gobindgarh, Ludhiana and other stations to douse the flames.

Khanna DSP Deepak Rai said they were carrying out rescue operations.

He said the reason behind fire could not be ascertained immediately and they were trying to save nearby shops. The DSP said there was no loss of life in the fire incident.

Pawan Sood, owner of the showroom said they had suffered massive loss.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya and SDM Sandeep Singh, among others, were also present on the occasion.

The firefighters were trying to douse the fire till the filing of the report.
