Game buddies turn into spectacle buddies

Recently, during a visit to an eye specialist for an interview, I came across two men, probably in their 40s, sitting in the waiting area for their appointment with the doctor.

Recently, during a visit to an eye specialist for an interview, I came across two men, probably in their 40s, sitting in the waiting area for their appointment with the doctor. They were giggling and sharing some memories of the yesteryears. I could not help but overhear their conversation. So, all I gathered was that both of them were school friends and had a very strong bond. Recently, both of them got hooked to an online game and would always play together. It seemed to me that they got so much obsessed with the game that they were playing game even during their working hours. It was like their childhood returning back to them. But alas, both of them landed to a doctor for eye check-up today and had to wear spectacles from now. After listening to their conversation the front desk guy at the doctor’s clinic also got curious to know about the game to which they were so much hooked into. The naughty duo downloaded the game in that guy’s mobile and now only God could save him from its addiction. It seems the time is not far when the guy sitting at the front desk of the doctor’s clinic will himself be seeking appointment of the doctor for eye check-up.

No uniformity in rules

The other day while crossing the Rani Jhansi road, a friend was stopped by a woman constable when former tried to take a turn towards Basant Road. Since it was one way, the constable stopped and asked her to take the other road. Perturbed over this, she took a longer route to drop her kid to tuition class which was near Prince hostel. While coming back, he saw the same constable allowing the other resident in car to take the same route, he asked why she was stopped and others were being allowed, the scared constable said, “Madam he wanted to go to the MLA’s house”. But when confronted by the friend that the car had gone straight and not to MLAs house, the cop replied, “Tussi chhangein ho, mann leya, oh jhoot boleya, dasso ki karan (You are good, you told the truth, the other person lied to me, tell me what to do!).” He smiled at her and went away.

No respite for commuters

There seems to be no end to woes of city residents commuting on the stretch of Ferozepur Road where construction of elevated road is underway. The part of the national highway from near the erstwhile octroi post to PAU gate number 2 has become a permanent traffic bottleneck with extended traffic jams all through the day. The MC authorities and the political leadership has been paying only lip service with promises of making service roads along the national highway operational to ease the movement of vehicular traffic without making any practical attempt towards this end. Like the MC did in September last year, the construction agency has been given yet another deadline by the MC Commissioner to speed up the work for clearing service roads for traffic movement. It is yet to be seen whether the construction agency complies with the directions or not.
