Gang of thieves busted, 4 held

With the arrest of four suspects, the Ludhiana police today claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and snatchers.
The suspects have been identified as Deepak Kumar of Jamalpur, Sunil Kumar of Mundian Kalan, Nandu Kumar of Bihar and Rakesh Kumar of Salem Tabri. The police have recovered three motorcycle, three Activa scooters, one e-rickshaw and nine mobiles from them.
Additional DCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brarn said when crime branch incharge was conducting patrolling in Jamalpur to keep tab over anti-social elements, four youths riding two motorcycles were stopped for checking. When they were asked to produce vehicle documents, they failed to do so. During the questioning, the accused confessed that they had stolen these motorcycles from city areas in the past.
During the search of the accused, nine mobile phones were recovered from them. The suspects revealed that the phones were snatched from the city residents in the recent past. The suspects also admitted that they had been running a gang of thieves and snatchers.
ADCP Brar added that during the preliminary questioning of the accused, five more stolen vehicles, including three Activa scooters, one motorcycle and one e-rickshaw were recovered from them which they had also stolen from the district. After registering a case, further investigation was launched by the police to nab other gang members.
