GCG girl shines in declamation



Ludhiana: Jaspreet Kaur, student of BA-I at the Government College for Girls, bagged second prize in an inter-college declamation contest organised by Guru Teg Bahadur National College, Dakha, in the memory of the Gadar Party and Sohan Singh Bhakna. Principal Manju Sahni congratulated Jaspreet and other students for participating in such events.

Calligraphy workshop held

To mark the International Mother Language Day, a workshop on the Gurmukhi calligraphy was organised by Bajaj College for its students. The mentor for the workshop was Davinder Nagi, member of the Arts faculty at Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana. Students learned the art of handwriting, gained knowledge about various pens and tools used in calligraphy and other information related to the art. To motivate the use of the Punjabi language among the youth, writing of the Punjabi alphabet was also taught to students.

KIMT bags 21 positions in IKGPTU exams

Students of Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology for Women brought laurels to the college by bagging 21 university positions in the April 2019 and November 2018 IKGPTU examinations. Students credited their success to their parents and teachers. Harpreet Kaur, director, and faculty members congratulated the students for their achievement.

Workshop on skill development

Guru Teg Bahadur National College, Dakha, organised a one-day workshop on ‘Skill development of youth in India”. The workshop was sponsored by the dean of College Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The chief guest for the workshop, DS Chawla, president, UCPMA, inaugurated the session. Ramandeep Singh from Punjab Agricultural University spoke on agriculture entrepreneurship. In the concluding session, Varun Gupta, director, JSR Solution, Ludhiana, shed light on developing I-T skills among the youth.

Free medical camp organised

Students of the faculty of medical laboratory sciences and pharmaceutical sciences of the PCTE Group of Institutes, in association with Aykai Hospital and Sidhu Dental Clinic, organised a free medical camp on the campus. The camp was attended by 525 people from nearby villages and availed themselves of various medical facilities. Besides seeking consultation from medical specialists, various diagnostic tests and free medicines were also provided to the attendees.

Arya College students bring laurels

Students of Arya College brought laurels to the college by clinching the overall trophy of state-level inter-college competitions organised by the Punjabi Sahit Academy to celebrate International Mother Tongue Day at Punjabi Bhawan. The competitions were related to the Punjabi language, literature and culture. In individual category, Tanveer Singh won first prize in poem recitation and Manpreet Singh won second prize in folk song. Lauding the achievement of students, principal Savita Uppal encouraged them to take active part in such competitions to work on their overall personality.

Ramgarhia Girls College

Students of Ramgarhia Girls College participated in the International Mother Tongue Day celebrations at Punjabi Bhawan and bagged many prizes. Students of the music department (Vocal), Harjeet Kaur (MA-II) won first prize in folk song category while Manisha (MA-II) bagged first prize in story writing and Jasvir Kaur of (MA-I) got third prize in poetry recitation.

11 GHG Khalsa students get job offers

GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organised a placement drive on the campus, at which IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Limited issued job offer letters to 11 students. Students were selected on the basis of a preliminary test and final interview. The drive was conducted by SK Gupta, convener, career counseling and placement cell, and officials from the company, assistant vice-president Aman Verma and human resource manager Vaneet. Principal Jaswant Singh congratulated the selected students.
