Geospatial tech to monitor water, soil and air quality

LUDHIANA: The Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), Ludhiana, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central University (CU), Bathinda, for use of geospatial technology in natural research management, including monitoring of water, soil and air quality.

The Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), Ludhiana, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central University (CU), Bathinda, for use of geospatial technology in natural research management, including monitoring of water, soil and air quality.

The MoU was signed by Dr Brijendra Pateriya, Director, PRSC and Prof Jagdeep Singh, Registrar, CU, Bathinda.

Lead coordinating scientists Dr Puneeta Pandey from the CU and Dr R K Setia from the PRSC said main objective of the pact is to collaborate and share resources for academic and research in area of geospatial technology, physical, chemical and biological techniques in natural resource management, environmental studies and other scientific fields.

The scope of MoU also involves sharing of expertise, domain knowledge and available facilities, research outcomes and patents of results at national and international platforms and exchange of scientists for research programmes.

The expertise of the PRSC in geospatial technology and modeling and the CU in environment and chemical technologies will be optimally used for monitoring of air, soil and water quality in Punjab and India.

Harpinder Singh, scientist, PRSC said hi-tech development, including end-to-end systems, networks and solutions to address water and food security will get major boost as a result of this pact.
