Govt high school judokas reign supreme

LUDHIANA: Government Girls High School, Madhopuri branch, reigned supreme by winning titles in both groups (U-17 and 19) in the Ludhiana District Judo Championship (U-17 and 19) organised by the District Education Department at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Ludhiana, September 5

Government Girls High School, Madhopuri branch, reigned supreme by winning titles in both groups (U-17 and 19) in the Ludhiana District Judo Championship (U-17 and 19) organised by the District Education Department at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall of Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Government school players secured 20 points to emerge champions in the U-17 category. DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, accumulated 12 points to finish as runners-up, while Government Senior Secondary School, Bhaini Sahib, collected 9 points and had to be content with the third position.

In the U-19 section, Madhopuri government school garnered 22 points to finish ahead of others, while the second position was bagged by BVM, Chandigarh Road, that gathered 12 points. RS Model School with 11 points secured the third position.

Harmeet Singh Walia, DPE, Government School, Madhopuri, and convener of the organising committee along with judo coaches Ravdeep Kaur and Parveen Thakur gave away prizes to the winners. Kishore Kumar, Varinder Kumar, Sarbjit Kaur, Balwinder Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Inderjeet Kaur, Rajni, Upkar Gaba and Savita Rani were among others present on the occasion.

  • Girls (U-17) Below 36 kg: First Simranjeet Kaur of Government High School, Madhopuri; second Lalita Devi of International Public School; and third Sonia of Government School, Sekhewal.
  • Below 40 kg: First Hema of Government School, Madhopuri; second Kesvi of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar; third Shveta of BVM, Dugri.
  • Below 44 kg: First Himashi Bains of HVM School, Subhash Nagar; second Neha Kumari of Government School, Bhaini Sahib; and third Anjali of Govt School, Madhopuri.
  • Below 48 kg: First Sukhdeep Kaur of Government School, Madhopuri; second Nikita of Government School, Bhaini Sahib; and third Shweta Kabir of RS Model School.
  • Below 52 kg: First Anjali Chandel of Ramgarhia School; second Aarti of Government School, Madhopuri; and third Prabhsimran Kaur of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar.
  • Below 57 kg: First Panvi Sehgal of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar; second Charanjeet Kaur of Government School, Bhaini Sahib; and third Mukta of Govt School, Madhopuri.
  • Below 63 kg: First Arshdeep Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School; second Shruti Kaushik of BVM, Chandigarh Road; and third Shubhneet Gill of DAV School, BRS Nagar.
  • Above 63 kg: First Yogita of DAV School, BRS Nagar; second Himanshi of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar; and third Mandeep Kaur of BVM, Chandigarh Road.
  • Girls (U-19) Below 40 kg: First Anjali of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar; second Anchal of BCM, Chandigarh Road; and third Kiran of Government School, Madhopuri.
  • Below 44 kg: First Simranjeet Kaur of RS Model School; second Divya of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar; and third Simran of Government School, Madhopuri.
  • Below 48 kg: First Jaspreet Kaur of GGSS School, Division No 3; second Simran of Government School, Sekhewal; and third Geetanjli of BVM, Chandigarh Road.
  • Below 52 kg: First Rhythm Ahuja of BVM, Chandigarh road; second Kamaljeet Kaur of Government School, Madhopuri; and third Shilpi of Government School, Division No 3.
  • Below 56 kg: First Priyanka of RS Model School; second Anchal of BVM, Chandigarh Road and Ramakshi of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar.
  • Below 63 kg: First Pavleen of Gujarkhan School; second Riya Rana of BVM, Chandigarh road; and third Rajwinder Kaur of Government School, Madhopuri.
