Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated on Friday that government schools in the state were witnessing a significant increase in student enrolments due to the transformative changes implemented by the Punjab Government.

During the inauguration of infrastructure development projects worth Rs 24.92 lakh in five government primary, high, and senior secondary schools in the Khanna constituency, under the ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ campaign, Sond said teachers were being sent abroad for training to adopt the latest educational practices.

Sond provided details about the development works inaugurated in the five schools in the constituency. At Government Primary School, Kauri, two classrooms were constructed at a cost of Rs 12.52 lakh, and Rs 2.5 lakh was allocated for furniture and projectors. At Government Senior Secondary School, Libra, bathrooms were built at a cost of Rs 2 lakh. At Government Senior Secondary School, Dahiru, a boundary wall was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.60 lakh. At Government High School, Dahiru, bathrooms for children were built at a cost of Rs 2 lakh, and a ground for morning assemblies was constructed for Rs 3 lakh. Additionally, at Government Primary School, Dahiru, the school’s boundary wall was repaired at a cost of Rs 1.30 lakh, the minister said.
