The management committee of gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Ji, Chander Nagar, organised an honouring ceremony of granthis serving at various gurdwaras of the city.
The occasion was attended by Pritpal Singh, mukh sewadar at gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib; SS Sibia, director, Sibia Medical Centre; Apar Singh Malhi, chairman of gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Ji; scholars Baljinder Singh and Bhupinder Singh Bedi.
Prithvipal Singh, president, gurudwara Dashmesh Pita Ji management committee, said as many as 14 priests were honoured for their contribution in spreading awareness about the teachings of the 10 Gurus among city residents.
The 14 priests honoured are at present serving at gurdwara Manjhi Sahib (Alamgir), gurdwara Ram Nagar, gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Ji, gurdwara Akal Mandal, gurdwara Pritam Nagar, gurdwara Deep Nagar, gurdwara Civil City, gurdwara Dushehra Ground, gurdwara 22-ft road, gurdwara Guru Nanak Pura, gurdwara Domorian Pull, gurdwara Mai Bishan Kaur Ji and gurdwara Kundan Puri.
Special gathering of Lekhak Manch
A special gathering of Lekhak Manch, Samrala, attributed to the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak dev, was organised under block president Dahljit Shahi.
A number of members of the manch, scholars, literature lovers and writers of the area participated in this gathering.
Parminder Singh Benipal, an author who had written two books about Guru Nanak Dev, was honored on the occasion. Benipal appealed to all to follow the teachings and ideology of Guru Nanak. In the second session, author Jagdish Khanna presented his drama ‘Dabolie’.
Later, a discussion on poems of Guru Nanak was also held.
The president of the manch, Daljit Shahi, spoke on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, thanked the attendees for participating and wished everyone a happy Gurpurb.
