Prof (Dr) Sarvjeet Kaur Brar, principal, Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, has been appointed as an ex-officio member of the Academic Council of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The appointment, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, is effective from the term from February 1, 2026 to January 31, 2028 in accordance with regulation 1.1 (h) as outlined on page 43 of the Panjab University Calendar, Volume-I (2022). An official communication (No 641/GM/O SM-II, dated January 30, 2026) was issued by the registrar, Panjab University, informing the principal of this recognition.
A bachelor’s in BSc Home Science, Dr Brar is a triple postgraduate in Hindi, Psychology and Education. She did her doctorate from the Panjab University on the topic ‘Educational and Professional Commitment of Teachers in relation to their life, satisfaction, teaching experience and organisational climate.’ She had been teaching at GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd, Ludhiana, before she joined as principal of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, in August, 2024.
Recipient of the super teacher award, Dr Sarvjeet Brar yearns to improve and reform teaching and learning by devising innovative strategies and inventive techniques. One of her papers was named the best during one of the NAAC seminars and again by the council of teacher education. She has written books, research papers and articles on exploring self, improving mental health, gross national happiness, organisational and professional commitment, reforming teacher education, shaping future classrooms, improving adolescent behaviour and focusing on their holistic development. She believes that her first and foremost responsibility as a principal is to foster a culture of interconnectedness between the physical and mental health of her staff and students by incorporating physical activity.
