Gym employee booked for molesting female colleague

A floor manager of a gym near the Chandigarh road molested its female manager. The woman lodged a complaint at the Division 7 police station, following which the police registered an FIR against the suspect on Friday. The victim also provided the CCTV footage, which substantiated her claim.

The woman said she worked as a centre manager at Elevate Wellness Club and Gym from January 15, 2023, to July 11, 2024. The suspect, Gurjeet Singh, alias Ubhi, a resident of Partap Chowk, was the floor manager of the gym. He often used to physically harass her. She had also told the gym owner about the matter but they did not take any action.

The victim said on June 14, she was alone in the trainer’s rest room, when the suspect caught her from behind. Afterwards, he started touching her inappropriately. The incident was also captured in a CCTV camera installed in the gym, the footage of which was given to the police as evidence.

According to the victim, when she lodged a complaint with the police, the man threatened to kill her and get her fired from the job. He also went to her house and threatened her ailing father.

She said she got fed up with the suspect and started working in another gym but there too Gurjeet started speaking abusive words about her dignity due to which she was forced to complain to the police.

The suspect had been working in the gym for the past several years. She said she had worked in the same gym earlier also, in 2019, but at that time she had worked for six months only.

Investigating officer ASI Palwinder Singh said after registering a case, efforts were on to catch the man.
